Technical Malfunction Issues
Multiple users report issues with the Dolphin Proteus Dx4, primarily related to movement failures, electrical problems, and operational inconsistencies, often despite attempts to troubleshoot and clean the device.
- Movement Failures: Numerous users experience the robot moving only a short distance (approximately three feet) before reversing or stopping entirely. This issue is frequently reported and persists even after users attempt to clean the impeller or swap parts.
- Power and Electrical Issues: Several reports indicate a short circuit originating from the power supply, with users noting that the device may power on (with lights indicating power) but fails to operate properly. Some have replaced the controller without resolving the issue, suggesting deeper electrical faults.
- Operational Inconsistencies: Users report that the unit may start and run for only a few seconds to a couple of minutes before cutting off, indicating potential overheating or internal failure. This has been a common experience among several users.
- General Failure to Operate: A recurring theme is the unit’s failure to function immediately after unboxing, with users stating that it turns on but does not move, regardless of any cleaning or troubleshooting attempts.

Dolphin Proteus Dx4 Pool Cleaner Not Working?
If you're experiencing issues with your Dolphin Proteus Dx4 pool equipment, you're not alone. Many users have faced similar challenges and have shared their experiences to help others troubleshoot and resolve these problems.
I have a Dolphin x4i. It great for a long time then three days ago I noticed it was in the same place so I took it out of the water and turned on it started to move but had a clicking noise like gears slipping. It would move a foot and reverse and the stop. I had an old 5i for parts so I took it apart but could find no problem.

The drive gear isn’t engaging with the main wheel. It feels like it’s slipping. I swapped the bigger flywheel for the one on the other side and it didn’t change anything. I took off the large track wheel all together and the issue is the same. The small great wheel just turns a bit in each direction then quits.
Help….

There is a short coming from the power supply directly from the proteus dx4. We have already bought a replacement controller where the power is controlled and realized that the short was from the cable connected to the machine. How do we proceed?

One of the wheel tracks came off of my Proteus DX4. Can I just try to stretch it to fit back on? It is pretty stiff and I’m not having much luck with that approach.

my control panel used to light up for one of the 3 settings. Now it does not light up under one of the three but runs. I did not see any troubleshooting solution to get it to light up again. Any recommendations?
